For several years my brother and his wife, Jeff and Nicole, were top fundraisers for the Chicagoland Buddy Walk, a 1 mile walk to celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Month and to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome. They've also been top 10 fundraisers for the Special Olympic Chicago Marathon team numerous times. They are taking a year off of running marathons and I am going to run in their place for a great cause.
As many of you know my nephew, Trevor, has Down Syndrome. Eight is the minimum age at which to start competing in Special Olympic events. Trevor has competed in both Swimming and Track. He is still a lover of many sports, particularly basketball and baseball. He is also a good soccer player and skier. Only time will tell to which sport he gravitates.
My goal, with the help of Jeff and Nicole, is to raise over $10,000 for Special Olympics this year. This will be my first marathon for Special Olympics, lets make it one to remember!
The money raised is tax deductible and goes to help Special Olympics continue to offer year round training and competition in 22 sports.
Dignity, acceptance, and a chance to reach one’s potential – these are human rights worth promoting for everyone.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!"Run with Team Special Olympics Chicago or support someone who is!
