Two years later our family continues to celebrate Bill's health!
After my husband's difficult diagnosis of a rare hybrid AML/ALL blood cancer with 2 chromosome mutations, he spent 10 1/2 weeks in the hospital for intense chemotherapy, whole body radiation, and a double umbilical cord stem cell transplant to give him the chance at life without the leukemia returning. He continues to recover and every day we celebrate his good health!
Bill and I are grateful for the incredible support our family recieved from others during his treatment and recovery. We realize how fortunate we are, and that not everyone is surrounded by communities like ours. We are committed to raising funds to fight cancer, to bring awareness of the complexities of cancer, and to offer positive support to others. One way we have chosen to share our support is by becoming a "Mentor Angel" and a "Caregiver Mentor" through Imerman Angels.
Imerman Angels was founded by Jonny Imerman after being diagnosed with testicular cancer at age 26. His mission is to offer free one-on-one mentor support in the cancer community. Imerman Angels is based here in Chicago and has grown worldwide.
I have chosen to show my commitment by running 26.2 miles on October 13th in the Chicago marathon... my first marathon!...and for Imerman Angels! I will run for my husband Bill and my two sons Alex & Andy, as well as families affected by cancer who rely on the support of others. Please consider a donation towards my efforts.
