I am proud to be running the 2019 Chicago Marathon to benefit a great cause as part of Team Imerman Angels. This is my second year running the marathon to benefit Team IA and I am looking forward to running my best race yet!
Imerman Angels is a nonprofit organization that connects cancer fighters with a personalized support network of survivors and caregivers. These one-on-one relationships give cancer fighters the chance to ask personal questions and get support from a cancer survivor who has been there before (a "Mentor Angel"). Mentor Angels lend their support and empathy to cancer fighters and their caretakers, help them navigate the system, determine their care options, and create their own sustainable support network. Made possible through team-oriented fundraising, Imerman Angels provides their services free of charge to cancer fighters affected by any form of cancer, at any cancer stage level, at any age, living anywhere throughout the world.
Since 2003, Imerman Angels has provided support to 38,000+ cancer fighters battling 135+ types of cancer in 90+ countries worldwide.
No one should have to face cancer alone. Together with your support we can help Imerman Angels continue the amazing work that they do helping cancer fighters in need.
Please take time to help our team reach our fundraising goal this year, and feel free to cheer me and the rest of our team of over 200 Imerman Angels runners on this year during the marathon on October 13!
Thank you for your support, see you on race day :)

Imerman Angels Overview
To provide personalized connections that enable one-on-one support among cancer fighters, survivors and caregivers.
Imerman Angels was created on the belief that no one should have to face cancer alone and without the necessary support. At 26 years old, Jonny Imerman was diagnosed with testicular cancer and began his fight against the disease. Throughout his experience, Jonny was lucky enough to have loving support from his family and friends but had never met anyone his age who was a cancer survivor. He wanted to talk to someone just like him, someone who truly understood, and was intimately familiar with his experience. In short, he was looking for someone who had already faced the same type of cancer. This was the beginning of Jonny’s vision and in 2003, it became a reality when he founded Imerman Angels.
What We Do
Through our unique matching process, Imerman Angels partners anyone, any age, any gender, anywhere and any cancer type seeking support with someone just like them – a “Mentor Angel”. A Mentor Angel is a cancer survivor or caregiver who most importantly has faced the same type of cancer.
Our service is absolutely free and helps anyone touched by any type of cancer, at any cancer stage level, at any age, living anywhere in the world.
These one-on-one relationships give a cancer fighter or caregiver the chance to ask personal questions and get support from someone who has been there before. Mentor Angels can lend support and empathy and help cancer fighters and caregivers navigate the system, determine their options and create their own support systems. Frequently, caregivers experience feelings similar to those of the person facing cancer. Mentor Angels can relate while being sensitive to the experience and situation.
