Dear family and friends,
Tony and I would like to ask for your support as we continue to train for the Oct. 2019 Chicago Marathon as members of Team Imerman Angels.
On July 12, 2018, Jim had surgery for and was diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer. He has now completed 6 months of chemotherapy treatments and a yearlong immunotherapy clinical trial. With the help of his amazing medical team, supportive co- workers, family and friends, Jim is remaining positive as he works toward and hopes for restored health.
During the past year, we became aware of a resource for cancer patients and their caregivers called Imerman Angels. Cancer fighters, survivors and their caregivers are paired with "Mentor Angels" who have traveled the same road and are able to offer one-on-one support. Jim now qualifies as a Mentor Angel!
Imerman Angels was chosen by the Bank of America 2019 Chicago Marathon to be an official Charity Partner. Team members receive marathon training and support as they prepare for the event and participate in fundraising for Imerman Angels.
Cancer affects not only the patient but their caregivers and loved ones as well. We believe in the mission of Imerman Angels that “no one should face cancer alone.”
Through generous donations, we have met 3/4 of our required fundraising goal of $2,500 which will provide support to cancer fighters, survivors and caregivers across the country.
Please consider helping us to meet our fundraising goal as we continue to train each week. We are currently logging 26-30 miles per week along with cross-training and a much needed 'rest day'. We hope to cross the finish line together as members of Team Imerman Angels in support of Jim and all those effected by this terrible disease.
WIth thankful hearts,
Caroline and Tony Orfei
