Haywood Waterways and the Town of Canton are hosting the "8th Annual Plunge Benefit-t-t-ting Kids in the Creek & Environmental Education" on "Super Bowl" Saturday, February 1, 2020. The Plunge will be at the Champion Credit Union Aquatics Center (77 S. Penland St, Canton, NC); registration begins at 10:00 am and festivities start at 11:30. The depth of plunge is a personal choice - from a dip of the toe to a full immersion jump off the diving board. All ages welcome.
There will be great prizes for the top 3 Individual Fundraisers, School Team Fundraisers, Community Team Fundraisers, and Best Costumes. All Plungers will receive a FREE t-shirt to commemorate their courage and a chance to win one of many great door prizes. Any Plunger that raises $100 or more will get a FREE lunch from one of the great food trucks that will be present.
We are seeking as many valiant souls as possible to brave an icy dip and raise money for our premier education event, one that teachers call “extremely valuable for teaching about water quality” and students call “cool”. Our student surveys demonstrate that Kids in the Creek is a very effective tool for increasing knowledge about water and bringing out environmentally-responsible behaviors in the kids. Funds will also support Haywood Waterways' many other education activities that raise awareness of clean water and the beauty of Haywood County.
The cost is $25 or FREE by raising sponsorships ($10 for under age 18). Register by clicking "Join" here on GoFundMe Charity, then "Donate" your $25/$10 (all donations are tax deductible), or better yet, send the link to all your family, friends, coworkers, and anyone else you can think of to sponsor you ($1, $5, $25, everything counts) and have a chance for one of the top fundraiser prizes.
Want to support the cause off-line? Contact Haywood Waterways for a paper copy of the "Sponsorship, Donation, and Registration Packet" (828-476-4667, email@example.com).
Bonfires will be raging to help folks warm up as well as indoor changing and eating facilities. Since it is a winter Plunge, the event will happen rain or shine!
Under age 18 will need parent’s permission (parents are going to have to sign the liability waiver anyway). Shorts and shoes are mandatory, costumes are encouraged.
