This started as a disorganized effort among a few buddies trying to cover way too many miles on a paddle board, that has morphed into what is still a somewhat disorganized gathering of friends for a fun day on the water, but now with the generous support of Athletic Brew for the 4th year in a row the focus is on helping out a charitable cause. This year we will again support Open Doors
Please donate more than the suggested $30.
-Try to use the go fund-me to organize teams. etc.
-Date: 7/3 / Time: 7 AM
-Format: 4 legs 2.5 Miles each, inside harbor, start off East Beach.
-Divisions: Solo (Iron Paddle), 2 Person Raceboard Team (Golden Paddle), 4 or 2 Person rec division (Wooden Paddle), new experimental surf ski.
-We will start/finish and gather on the water.
-As in the past EVERY team/paddler needs to have a chase boat associated with them.
-As I have stated in the past, I am going for a paddle and asking my friends if they want to join, while I suggest safety tips I am not assuming any responsibility for safety. So, will ask folks sign the attached waiver and drop off my house before the event. No waiver no t-shirt.
Open Doors Background:
Open Doors’ mission is to effectively address the causes and complexities of the homeless and working poor by providing shelter, food, clothing, case management services, treatment services, transitional planning for short and long term goals, subsidized housing, education, employment, and a path towards independence and success.
Open Doors operates primarily from private donations, with less than 25% of our operating budget coming from government funding. 90 cents of every dollar donated goes directly to providing food, shelter and assistance to those in need. Our board is comprised entirely of uncompensated volunteers.
