Welcome to the UASCJ: For The Future fundraising page (formerly Run for UASCJ), benefiting the students of the Urban Assembly School for Criminal Justice. We are now in our 13th year and have graduated six classes, with our Class of 2019 achieving a 97% graduation rate, around 20 points above the city average. Our alumnae attend or have graduated from colleges across the country, including Barnard, Columbia, Emory, NYU, Princeton, Smith, UPenn, Wesleyan, SUNYs, CUNYs, and other institutions. Our current seniors have started to receive their college acceptances (from Cornell, St. Francis, and Stonehill, to name a few) and we want to ensure they have the financial support necessary to attend and thrive at their chosen schools.
We are living in unprecedented times. Since March 16, UASCJ and all NYC public schools have been educating and engaging their students online. Our staff has spent countless hours preparing their lessons and their students for this new way of learning. We admire their passion, commitment and time to making this transition as best as possible for the 565 young women they teach.
Your support is more important now than ever.
Please help us continue to provide our young women with a well-rounded education and a network of support that is critical to their success. 100% of the funds we raise go to scholarships for our students to help them afford a college education. The exorbitant cost of a high-quality college education is overwhelming for our students, 94% of whom qualify for free/reduced lunch. Your financial support in the past has allowed us to disburse approximately $20,000 each year.
Typically, we host a run each year, bringing together students, staff and families of the UASCJ community. Due to the pandemic, we will not be having our usual gathering but hope you will still continue to support this incredible school.
Stay safe, healthy and we look forward to staying connected to you.
With much gratitude,
The UASCJ Advisory Board and Staff
