Well, we did it again! For the 6th year in a row on New Year's Eve, Alameda resident Andy MacKay played Auld Lang Syne on the bagpipes in 20 bars and restaurants in Alameda, CA, benefiting American Cancer Society and kicking off NYE celebrations. Over the last 6 years the Pipe-athon has raised almost $25,000 for ACS online and through the collection around Alameda on the night!
Andy was accompanied by Jake and Elwood Blues, plus special guest Sister Mary Stigmata(!) to 'assist' the wonderful Alameda public in making our target for this great cause. We had great fun on the night with fantastic support from Alamedans, and also the Alameda Police Department, who we visited to wish a Happy New Year! And the Blues Brothers got away with it!
Many thanks to all the bars and restaurants who supported us on our journey round the Island City:
McGee's, Park Street Tavern, Alameda Island Brewing Company, Speisekammer, Lemon Tree, Churchward, Linguini's, Town Tavern, American Oak, Lost Weekend, Star Pizza, Hobnob, Lucky 13, Z's, Forbidden Island, Swell, Wally's, Fireside, The Hunter, 1400 Bar & Grill.
Please continue to support the cause and donate online here with anything you can. We're aiming for $6,000 this year, so with a bit of a push we can make it.
Many thanks for your support! Happy New Year to everyone! Have a great 2020!
