Over 54 million Americans (1 in 6) are experiencing food insecurity in 2020 as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and growing poverty and unemployment rates.
That's 54 million humans - including 18 million children - without access to enough food to live a healthy, active life.
It's 54 million too many.
Since Sunday, October 4th, I've been running 5.4 miles a day in support of these 54 million. I'll keep the streak going for 54 consecutive days while raising awareness and funds for my good friends on the frontlines of the fight against hunger: WhyHunger.
The streak will end on Thanksgiving Day with WhyHunger's 1st Annual "Race To Give Thanks."
WhyHunger has been working since 1975 to provide critical resources to support grassroots and community food programs rooted in social, environmental, racial and economic justice. They believe that a world without hunger is possible, and that every human has the right to nutritious food. Every dollar raised will support WhyHunger's programs as they work towards making hunger an affliction of the past.
Will you join me in making this Thanksgiving Day a day of joy and nourishment for millions of homes across the nation?
Stay tuned for special guest runners and a few rounds of individual thank you's along the way!
Thanks and be well,
