I am Walter Guillioli and at 41 years of age I will try to run for the first time 50 miles (81 kms.) on mountain terrain while ascending 6,600 ft next month. I want to do it for a cause and help homeless dogs and cats in Guatemala, so I am raising funds to spay and neuter 50 animals. Please join my effort and donate today.
Why run 50 miles you would ask? I have been running more and more during the past couple of years and all I can say is that it helps me be more at peace. Running for hours through pain has a way of making you humble and build character. I simply let go and focus on the next step. Ultimately it makes me happy and satisfied. I also hope I am starting to set a good example on my almost 3-year old Diego that we have to work hard for stuff that is important to us.
I have been afraid about this race for over a year and I have been training for 9 months. It will be long, difficult, cold and painful. I am not particularly fast or strong, but I can be unreasonable and that will help me. I might fail, but as Denzel Washington* says it is better to fall forward and not backwards. But I need more motivation and helping animals that suffer daily is one of them. Thinking about them will give me strength and having your support will give me hope.
Spay and neuter addresses the root of the problem of the horrible suffering that stray animals endure daily around the world. The sterilization of just one animal will prevent the suffering of dozens down the road and a surgery is just $21 for a dog and $19 for a cat. The clinic will occur on Aldea Xejuyu San Martín Jilotepe in Chimaltenango, Guatemala.
100% of the funds are raised by the non-profit organization I founded in 2013 – People Saving Animals and they will be distributed to one of our amazing partners in Guatemala - Castraciones Guaus & Miaus.
