My daughter, Ngaire, suffers from intractable idiopathic epilepsy. At times in her life she's had many hundreds of seizures in a single day. Thankfully, she's doing a lot better, thanks to a number of wonderful people who have helped us over the years. She's been on the ketogenic diet since she was 3 (which is why having a *whole* piece of pizza is a big deal!). Sadly, she still has seizures.
On a particularly hopeless day in 2012 I got an email from the Epilepsy Therapy Project asking for volunteers to raise money by running a marathon. Since then I've run a marathon a year, raising money for Epilepsy research. This year I'm running for CURE. I'm entered into the Marine Corps 50km https://www.marinemarathon.com. It's a bit further than a marathon, but my daughter is an amazing inspiration and has had to deal with so much it's the least I can do. If you'd like to help us raise money or simply even awareness of Epilepsy I'd value your support.
