My 10 year old daughter, Katie, was in an accident in 2013 that later resulted in the amputation of her right leg in 2015. We were immediately put in touch with POA and 50 Legs in Orlando Florida. I cannot imagine how different our lives would have been if we would not have been put in contact with 50 Legs.
I recently completed a 10k with Katie. She set this goal for herself last year when I ran the Boston Marathon. She has completed over twenty-five 5ks and is a national record in several sprints in her category as a T42. I would have never dreamed in a million years that this would have been possible in 2015 as I took one last look at her leg as they wheeled her to the operating room.
On top of the funding that is provided for Katie to travel and maintain her running blade, 50 Legs provides a family-like community that is unexplainable. We have made countless friendships because of being in the 50 Legs family. This is not just a foundation that provides legs, it provides an entire network of people that you will call family.
Please consider donating to this amazing charity!
The purpose of 50 Legs is to provide amputees with the necessary care and prosthetics that they could not otherwise afford and to help them live a happier and healthier life.
