For your personal or business charitable giving this year, please join me in raising funds by May 17 for Erika’s Lighthouse, a national non-profit that provides depression awareness programs for adolescents. The sad fact is that 1 in 5 youth age 13-18 have or will have a serious mental illness. Erika's Lighthouse offers free mental health programming to middle schools and high schools, as well as mental health toolkits for parents, family, friends, and educators. The help break the silence by helping adults and teens start awareness campaigns.
Money is raised by barbell squat challenge via the 4th annual Bull City Squat Challenge. My goal is 30 barbell squats to a bench in one set @ the target weight for women of 95lbs. To stretch myself this year, I am doing a second set lifting my body weight with at least 10 lifts. Game on! All donations of $35 or more come with bling donated by Tyrone Irby of Choice Fitness, the sponsor of this challenge. That includes:
· Bull City Squat Challenge T-shirt (limited edition so get in your donations!)
· a CEP Compression koozie
· raffle for CEP compression 3.0 short and tall socks
For those in the Triangle area, come join the party at Choice Fitness in Durham on May 18. If you aren’t in the area, check out the livestream during the event from our FB page!
For this fundraiser I am honoring my mother, Ruth Wood. She struggled with depression until late middle age. If she had mental health resources as a young woman, I wonder how much of her suffering could have been avoided.
Thank you for considering this tax-deductible donation.
