Starting May 15 at 0900 I plan to run for 48 hours straight finishing on May 17 at 0900. I will be 'homeless' and running in circles during that period on a 1 mile loop to benefit Women in Need ('WIN') an organization that helps homeless women and their children to get off the streets. This will be a day/night/day/night event, 'rain or shine' Children comprise 60% of New Yorkers in family shelter: •1 in 10 students in NYC public schools are homeless •1 in 7 children will experience homelessness before 5th grade •WIN helped more than 5,400 children last year •Over 40% of kids living at WIN are under the age of 6, the remainder are school aged.
Doing this work requires a lot of funding, as we now understand the why, let's see how you can contribute to this amazing cause? •You will commit and pledge for each completed mile or kilometer •example 1: if you commit 1c and I complete 100 miles, you will donate $1 •example 2: if you commit $1 and I complete 200 mile, you will donate $200 •Anybody regardless of their means and capabilities can participate •Point of reference, my personal best is 161 miles for 48h, can I do better? •This method will keep everyone engaged and motivate me to give it my all •For those donating over $2 per mile, you will receive a special momentum for your generosity.
