Please help us raise money to purchase iPads for four public primary schools in under-resourced communities across Harbour Island and Eleuthera in the Bahamas. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, these schools have gone remote, despite the fact that 40 students (ages six to eleven) do not have access to the technology required to join online classes. Many of these students are learning to read and write, so these years are essential for academic growth. Right now, students use Zoom and other online resources to learn remotely. Even after much of the Bahamas is vaccinated, and schools return to in-person learning, the iPads will still be used to help students attend additional online programs, access additional resources to support learning disabilities, and access a vast collection of free online books.
The families of the students cannot afford to purchase iPads for their children, and many parents have resorted to giving their cell phones to their kids so that they can join classes. We have partnered with EEO, a charity that is dedicated to helping Bahamian students with learning challenges. EEO’s mission is to provide special education and literacy outreach programs to students and their communities in Eleuthera and Harbour Island. If you would like to learn more about EEO, click the button labeled "EEO Website," or copy and paste this link into your browser: https://www.eeobahamas.org/
We are trying to purchase 40 6th generation (2018) iPads in bulk for $350 plus a $10 case, bringing the total cost per iPad to $360. For 40 iPads at that price, it would cost $14,400. Our goal is $15,000, slightly above the price of the iPads to accommodate for shipping and other unexpected fees.
In addition to cash donations, we are also accepting gently used iPads. If you have an extra device, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
All donations are tax-deductible!
THANK YOU - ANY DONATION IS APPRECIATED!
