Newport-Mesa Spirit Run, Inc. (NMSRI) is a 501(c)(3) non profit founded in 2010 to present Spirit Run, an adult and youth road racing and expo event and to donate the event's net proceeds to benefit children.
NMSRI is dedicated to promoting youth fitness. As we all know, poor eating, inactivity, and obesity is on the rise in our children. To help stop this trend, in 2011, NMSRI founded its Youth Running Training & Scholarship Program. With the help of members of the University of California - Irvine Cross Country and Track Team, NMSRI conducts free running training at elementary schools with high percentage of underprivileged students to prepare them for Spirit Run. Also, to ensure every child has a chance to participate in Spirit Run, NMSRI makes scholarships for entry fees and free bus transportation available to underprivilged students.
For 2020, NMSRI is planning to conduct training at Victoria and Pomona Elementary Schools in Costa Mesa. It will also continue to make scholarships for entry fees available to NMUSD students who cannot afford them along with free bus transportation to Spirit Run.
Your tax deductible contribution can help NMSRI fund the scholarships, bus transportation, and other program costs. Please donate now to help underprivileged children get fit through free running training, along with free entry and transportation to Spirit Run.
