Newport-Mesa Spirit Run, Inc. (NMSRI) is a 501(c)(3) non profit founded in 2010 to present Spirit Run, an adult and youth road racing and expo event. NMSRI donates Spirit Run's net proceeds to benefit youth education and fitness and other causes.
NMSRI also invites qualifying high school sports and company teams to raise money for Spirit Run Charities. As part of their fundraising efforts, these teams conduct online pledge campaigns through NMSRI on Go Fund Me Charity.
NMSRI has its own Go Fund Me Charity pledge campaign to raise funds for its Youth Training & Scholarship Program. Below are the details about that program.
As we all know, poor eating, inactivity, and obesity is on the rise in our children. To help stop this trend, in 2011, NMSRI founded its Youth Running Training & Scholarship Program. With the help of members of the University of California - Irvine Cross Country and Track Team, NMSRI conducts free running training at elementary schools, with a high percentage of underprivileged students, to prepare them for Spirit Run. Also, to ensure every child has a chance to participate in Spirit Run, NMSRI makes free event entries and free bus transportation available to underprivileged students.
In 2020, NMSRI is conducting training at Victoria and Pomona Elementary Schools in Costa Mesa. It will also continue to make scholarships for entry fees available to NMUSD students who cannot afford them along with free bus transportation to Spirit Run. Spirit Run will award at least 100 free entries this year alone and will provide free bus transportation to several schools.
Your tax deductible contribution can help NMSRI fund the scholarships, bus transportation, and other program costs. Please donate now to help underprivileged children get fit through free running training, along with free entry and transportation to Spirit Run.
