Each year the Friends of River Hospital host the Polar Bear Dip at Bonnie Castle Resort, to support River Hospital. The event started in 1991 with a handful of dedicated dippers who were willing to raise money for a wonderful cause by doing something crazy like jumping through a hole in the ice into the St. Lawrence River! These amazing individuals started a wintertime River tradition that has grown each year. This coming year marks the 30th anniversary of the Polar Bear Dip!
The 30th Annual Polar Bear Dip will take place on Saturday February 29, 2020 (Leap Day!). The Dip has approximately 150 dippers join us for this freezing cold, but fun event. Each dipper raises funds for River Hospital (a minimum of $100) and then jump into the St. Lawrence River. Jeff Cole, anchor of WWNY-TV 7’s Evening News, will once again join us to emcee the event. This event brings spectators and dippers from all over the local area and some from out of the area, who look forward to the event each year.
The 30th Annual Polar Bear Dip will raise funds to modernize the patient rooms in the Inpatient Unit located on the 2nd Floor of River Hospital. Our goal for this year’s event is $80,000 and we need your help!
