I’m happy to announce the 2nd Annual Double Marathon Challenge!
In last year's challenge I ran the Chicago (finish time: 3:52) and New York City (3:49) marathons raising $4300 through your generous donations.
This year I'll be running the Twin Cities (October 6th) and New York City (November 4th) marathons. With your help, I know I can run faster and raise more money.
The Honors Program at Nassau Community College is a highly selective program made up of students who graduated at the top of their high school classes. Students enrolled in the Program challenge themselves by taking enriched courses designed to prepare them for the rigors of advanced undergraduate and graduate coursework. The Carol Farber Honors Program positions them to achieve their academic and personal dreams. Although they are Honors students, they face the same financial difficulties that many College students face. Federal and State aid can only be applied to tuition; even students who receive full financial aid still find paying for textbooks and other supplies challenging. Please help me help these deserving students at Nassau Community College. Your donations had tremendous impact on last year’s recipients:
"The scholarship represents everything about how the Honors Program has prepared me for the next chapter in my education. In addition to helping me study at my dream college, it also alleviated an immense responsibility off my shoulders by covering nearly 1/3 of my anticipated tuition, thereby allowing me to focus on pursuing my passion. I am extremely grateful for the scholarship and know that your donations will continue to allow us to have a better chance at success."
-Jane Jeong, Human Rights - Columbia University
“As an international student I was ineligible for financial aid and had to pay double tuition. I would not have been able to afford my tuition without this scholarship and I’m extremely thankful for the fact that your donations allowed me to complete my Associate’s degree.”
-Lauren Tyson, Neuroscience - Queens College
“Being a part of the Honors Program has meant so much to me - from the incredible professors to the wonderful friends I made. To learn that I was awarded a scholarship from the Honors Program was such an honor and will help me achieve my goal of becoming a nurse as I continue my studies here at NCC.”
-Chanelle Farquharson, Nursing - NCC/SUNY Empire Joint Program
“The scholarship award was immensely helpful as it allowed me to realize my educational ambitions. It helped with supplies, textbooks, and tuition. I’m very thankful to be a recipient of the award and I know how helpful and meaningful it’ll be to this year’s students.”
-Jeff Purirojejananon, Astronomy - Stony Brook University
All money donated will be used for scholarships for our students.
