Why do I run for 261Fearless Boston 2020....
My running journey started more than 10 years ago after my mum's passing. It was a wake up call that I need to be fit and healthy for my family and myself.
Running just sparks joy in me. I feel so happy and energetic after each run. It is also a stress reliever when you need that peace and quiet time alone. I have run more than 40 marathons so far around the world. Yes, kind of insane. Subsequently, I pursued an interest in triathlon.
In 2015, when I was preparing for my 1st Ironman race, I fell while cycling. It was a near fatal accident where I broke both hands. After multiple surgeries and enduring a long period of painful rehab, I finally regained my arm and hand flexibility. It was the most difficult period in my life where I needed to rely on family for daily chores. I was devastated as I thought I would be disabled and would not be able to participate in any activities anymore. No more running, no more swimming nor cycling. Gosh, it was a nightmare!
However, it was also during this period where I was showered with outpouring love, endless care and solid family and friends' support. Especially my running and Tri-buddies who kept encouraging me not to lose hope. "Be brave and be fearless", I told myself. I was determined to get back on my feet.
Thanks Gaited Community, Thanks Coconutters and thanks to my Tri-group friends, MEX, Kambing Cycling Group, family and friends. The moral support kept me going...
I ran my "come back" marathon in 2017 and told myself I would set a goal to complete the World Six Major Marathons. Boston 2020 will be my last major and to be able to run with 261Fearless is absolute amazing!
This is a platform for women runners globally to inspire, to encourage and to support each other. And the camaraderie that we can build along the way is priceless.
I dedicate this marathon to my mum. I know you are watching me from heaven. You will always be missed.
Thank you in advance for helping me to achieve this goal by donating via this platform. Any amount is appreciated!! Love you all.
And let's run peeps!
