The Miami Legal team is spending 24+ hours on a exercise streak to raise money for Sisters for Abundant Living a local charity which supports families and communities in the areas of education, health, and nutrition. They have lead multiple projects since 2005 including tutoring children with learning difficulties and developing young teens. Their focus is on combining academics, and specifically literacy, with healthy eating, empahsising how a healthy body can truly support a healthy mind and strong academics.
They have a special summer food program where they distribute lunches to low-income housing communities, parks, and many other locations. The locations include Miami-Dade and Broward County libraries. During the summer, many children visit the libraries as a "free" safe-haven because parents cannot afford child care.
Children are able to read books, reenact stories during story time, and participate in various activities at over 110 sites (59 libraries). They serve over 168,000 meals to children over the span of 10 weeks and the program has been featured on two local television stations (WSVN7™ and NBC6™).
