Friends and Colleagues,
Milwaukee Christian Center's annual Bowl-a-thon is right around the corner and my team, known on the local circuit as "Dude, This is a League Game", is ready. But, I need your help so our community can thrive! This year your support will do amazing things like help create more than 50 jobs, internships and leadership positions for young people.
We've got big things to do, so if you are able please consider giving. Any size donation is appreciated!
I'm excited about the great things happening with your support, check it out:
We're offering high school age youth the opportunity to co-lead a public mural process with Milwaukee Artist of the Year Tia Richardson for the second year in a row! Its an amazing process to watch come together. Check out last year's mural below:
We're creating opportunities for emerging leaders. From young people I've known for over a decade to a high school senior who walked in, stated her case for how she felt she could deliver the programming young children in her neighborhood actually deserved, we have been able to create positions and possibilities with young people. We have amazing assets and people to build on and with in this city!
We're creating opportunities for young people to excel and a second chance for young people who've hit a bump in the road. This summer MCC joined Bradley Tech High School as the community partner in the community schools effort, working to lift up shared leadership, equity, and cultural relevancy within the school and ensure students are graduating with post secondary opportunities. This fall MCC stepped in to re-open afterschool programming at Kagel Elementary School which had lost afterschool programming putting families in a tough spot. Working with community and school leadership we've put in place a team of young leaders from the surrounding community to deliver a safe, fun, enriching program during the school year and summer. And, our latest cohort of YouthBuild members saw seven young adults earn their high school diploma and twenty-three members move toward family sustaining careers.
And, because of support to purchase amazing reading materials that reflect the experiences and strengths of Milwaukee neighborhoods and families, kids are reading ALL. THE. TIME. Young people are finding joy in reading throughout our afterschool programs!
Thank you for your partnership and support. It is truly appreciated.
About Milwaukee Christian Center
Milwaukee Christian Center is a multi-service organization that works to build strong neighborhoods full of opportunity. We approach that work through four core areas: Housing, Youth Development, Senior Support, and Food Security – serving over 6,400 people each year. While MCC was founded on Milwaukee’s south side by American Baptists who provided outreach to immigrants, we now serve youth, families, and older adults of all races, ethnicities, religions, and ages throughout the city of Milwaukee.
