While we want everyone to have fun with this event, you are helping to shine a light on a very serious issue - sexual violence.

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® is the international men's march to stop rape, sexual assault and gender violence.  Men everywhere proudly wear red high heel shoes and walk one mile to show they will not tolerate sexual violence in their community.

When you walk as an individual or as part of a team, you become part of the solution.  You are showing everyone that you will not tolerate men's sexualized violence against women in central Illinois.

The funds raised through this year's event will be used to help Prairie Center Against Sexual Assault in its efforts to prevent sexual and gender based violence in all of its forms.

👠The first 150 people to sign up will receive a PCASA Bystander water bottle.

👠Individuals who raise $100 or more  and teams who raise over $200 or more will receive an "I'm The Change" kit with a t-shirt and pair of sunglasses while supplies last.

Story

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® raises awareness in communities about the serious causes and effects of sexual violence.

Men walk in women's high-heeled shoes to actively confront gender stereotypes and expectations in a playful and open manner to reveal the underlying causes of men's sexualized violence.

For the last 14 years, Prairie Center Against Sexual Assault has hosted a Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® event to raise awareness around the issue of sexual assault.

This year, our Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event faces great challenges.

The COVID-19 pandemic makes it hard to get together as a large group to raise awareness, but that’s not keeping us from getting the word out about the impact of sexual violence in our communities.

So this year, our 14th annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® event will go VIRTUAL!

We hope that by getting people walking THROUGHOUT our local communities (and beyond) we can INCREASE awareness of sexual violence in 2021.
