“Because of the Red Cross, we didn’t have to sleep in our car. They made it possible for us to have a roof over our head, food to eat, clothes on our back and a great deal of support.”
- Daniel Smith, Fire Survivor
Join Us! Bring Hope to Home Fire Survivors in Colorado and Wyoming.
Every eight minutes, the Red Cross responds to a disaster— the vast majority of them are home fires. Red Cross provides comfort, relief and recovery assistance to home fire survivors. In 2020, Red Cross of Colorado and Wyoming responded to 453 home fires and assisted more than 2,000 survivors.
Our goal is to raise $60,000 by March 31 to help 100 families devastated by a home fire. Will you help us?
Red Cross volunteers respond to a home fire within hours of receiving the call from the fire department. We help the family secure food and lodging. We give a child who has lost everything the immediate psychological care he or she needs and, often, a toy to call their own. We provide a comfort kit filled with toiletries. And in the weeks following, Red Crossers are there every step of the way to provide comfort, support, and connections to community resources.
For the 40% of Americans who don’t have the savings to cover a $400 emergency, you can imagine how much this means. After losing your home, when your family faces a night without beds or days without food, the Red Cross is there to help. Immediately following a home fire, Red Cross provides a financial assistance card so that the family can purchase what they need most to begin to rebuild their lives.
Your gift will bring hope to a family during their darkest moments. Thank you for your support!
