Steve Truntich was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma late November 2013 and spent that Thanksgiving in the hospital recovering from his first surgery. It was the following year he started the Easter Basket effort to make sure all the children in the surgical areas of Florida Hospital had a small piece of joy when they and their families had to be in the hospital over the holiday.
In honor of Steve, we are carrying on the tradition for the eighth year.
For 2021 we have a base goal to be able to distribute to Nemours Children's Hospital, Arnold Palmer and Florida Hospital South and East (around 300 baskets). However, that number can be expanded to as many children and hospitals as possible, based on what is received!
We are taking extra precautions this year, due to Covid-19, resulting in a few changes to keep our donors, volunteers and recipients safe. We will be limiting work nights to our core group and also limiting the collection of physical donations. We kindly request only financial donations at this time. If you would like to participate in a special way, or have a specific donation to make, please contact one of the core team directly to discuss.
Thank you to everyone who has supported this effort with Steve in the past. Although we lost Steve in May 2015, the best way to celebrate his life is to continue “paying it forward” by helping those that are struggling with battles often harder than our own.
