Event Details
2019 Battle the Blitz: Quad Rugby Tournament

In 2006, Ohio University Doctorate of Physical Therapy students began the Battle the Blitz event, an annual tournament between Athens and Ohio University community members and the Buckeye Blitz Wheelchair Rugby Team. This tournament was started as a way to raise funds to offset the high cost to compete, as well as to raise awareness for adaptive sport programs. We are thrilled to announce that the event is back to being in-person for 2021!

The 15th annual event will take place on Saturday, September 25th. How it works:

1. Registration and t-shirt included for $25 (Link below)

2. Game faces on! Bring you and your team to challenge the Buckeye Blitz in a fun filled tournament!

3. Proof or it didn't happen! Upload your photo to Facebook or Instagram and tag @ouquadrugby (FB), @ohiouniversitypt (IG), and hashtag #BattleTheBlitz, #BuckeyeBlitz, #QuadRugby to be entered into a raffle basket giveaway at the event!

Story
About Quad Rugby

The Ohio Buckeye Blitz are a co-ed, semi-professional wheelchair rugby team based in Columbus, Ohio. Quadriplegic Rugby is a full-contact sport where all players exhibit some level of dysfunction in all four limbs, often due to spinal cord injuries. To play the sport, teams must come up with enough funds for registrations, lodging, and competitive equipment. Chairs alone can cost up to $7,000, and when combined with other fees can cost the team more than $17,000 annually.
