The 9/11 Promise Run & Ride events are held to remember the lives lost in 2001 but to also honor true everyday Heroes. The acts of sacrifice, courage and commitment displayed by First Responders and Military Service Members on September 11th and in its aftermath were an example of true Heroism. On a daily basis, these Heroes keep our community and country safe and free.
The journey begins each year on September 9th at the 9/11 Pentagon Memorial. In relay style fashion, teams of runners head to Ground Zero in New York and teams of cyclists head to the United Flight 93 Memorial in Shanksville, PA. The events are supported by fire houses along each of the routes. All athletes finish their journey of remembrance and honor on September 11th. Each athlete is required to fundraise a minimum of $1,000 each all of which goes to the 9/11 Promise Scholarship Program.
These events are in no way a race - they are a journey where people unite for a mission far bigger than themselves. It is a journey that changes lives!
