So much has changed and moved our country over this last year. The pandemic has further magnified racial inequity, our country has proven to be truly divided in our beliefs around building equity, and the murder of George Floyd literally brought us to our knees in protests around the country and the world. CURE was born out of these continuing traumas inflicted by systemic racism that hurt ALL of us.
In over two years since its inception, and even through this Coronavirus pandemic, CURE’s educational events have reached over 1200 community members in Larchmont, Mamaroneck and neighboring towns by hosting large public events as well as intimate gatherings in neighbor’s homes. We’ve discussed criminal justice reform; we’ve brought experts and elected officials together to discuss inequities in housing, employment, immigration and digital learning; we’ve also offered a workshop for parents on how to talk to their kids about racism.
In 2020-2021, CURE’s plans include:
Joining forces with anti-racist groups currently forming all over Westchester who have reached out to us for partnerships.Listening to our community and aiding them in the areas of conversation around race that they feel are most needed.
Shining a light on where Faith and Race coincide with religious leaders.
Offering our neighbors a deeper look at what it means to be white and how we can decenter whiteness in our lives and institutions.
And so much more!
CURE - The Coalition for Undoing Racism through Education is a volunteer, community advocacy group that works to bring education to Larchmont and Mamaroneck on the subject of institutional and systemic racism in our community and our country.
