Friends and Family!
I am participating in my first endurance event, riding in the 2020 TD 5 Boro Bike Tour, raising funds for the YMCA of Greater New York!
I have been a lifelong member of the YMCA. It began in the pool at 3 months old learning life saving skills in the water. Then, I spent my formative years going to summer day camp and participating in overnight sleepaway camp, playing sports and learning the basic skills in basketball that would later lead to becoming a collegiate athlete. As a teenager, I began getting some of my first job experiences through the Y, as a basketball referee for young children, a coach, and also entry level membership/front desk services the year before I entered college. As a member of the Y's Teen Program, I even had the opportunity to travel Internationally to our sister-YMCA in Germany, through an exchange program. I also even came around full circle and was a Summer Camp Counselor for a Summer!
Through all of these experiences, I gained the important skills of confidence, teamwork, health and wellness, making friends, and so much more.
I would not have had the opportunity to take advantage of these activities and life experiences without the generous contributions of donors like you and the support and mentorship of the incredible staff at the YMCA in my hometown.
As many of you know, I have now made the journey full circle back to the Y as a career. I manage the fundraising efforts of the largest YMCA Association in the world - The YMCA of Greater New York. This is such a blessing to me, to be able to raise money for the next generation of children and families who will reap the benefits of these same opportunities I was granted.
As the amazing families in the video above attest, the YMCA of Greater New York is here to give everyone a place and an opportunity to achieve goals, to face challenges, and to reach for dreams of success.
No one is ever turned away based on ability to pay. Your kindness and generosity toward the Y’s Annual Campaign open new pathways of opportunity and possibility for the people who need it most in New York City.
What you give goes directly to programs that provide new options and new access to resources for children, families, and seniors. As a neighborhood asset, the YMCA of Greater New York creates lasting connections that strengthen every community.
