Steve Truntich was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma late November 2013 and spent that Thanksgiving in the hospital recovering from his first surgery. It was the following year he started the Easter Basket effort to make sure all the children in the surgical areas of Florida Hospital had a small piece of joy when they and their families had to be in the hospital over the holiday.
In honor of Steve, we are carrying on the tradition for the seventh year.
For 2020 we have a base goal to be able to distribute to all of Nemours Children's Hospital, Arnold Palmer and Florida Hospital South and East (around 350 baskets). However, that number can be expanded to as many children and hospitals as possible, based on what is received!
You can participate by making a donation in the form of monetary contributions, gift cards and gift items. We will be organizing work nights to build baskets in March. Please contact the organizer for information on making physical donations and watch this page for updates on events to build baskets.
Thank you to everyone who has supported this effort with Steve in the past. Although we lost Steve in May 2015, the best way to celebrate his life is to continue “paying it forward” by helping those that are struggling with battles often harder than our own.
