The Northport High School STEM Challenge is a day filled with STEM activities while fundraising for a good cause. For the Challenge, teams will participate in 4 different Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) related events. Each registered team can have a maximum of 4 students who are currently enrolled in grades 5 through 8. On the day of the Challenge, medals will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place teams for each event. One week before the event, a description of each event with rules and guidelines will be emailed out to each team. A bagel breakfast will be provided for all students. This year there is NO registration fee for each team; however, all teams are encouraged to fundraise and raise additional money beyond the registration fee. A special award will be presented to the team that raises the most money. Proceeds from the STEM Challenge will go to The Robert Packard Center at Johns Hopkins, a non-profit organization that raises money and awareness for Lou Gehrig’s disease or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
