It is with heavy hearts that we must announce the cancellation of our 22nd Annual Scholarship Gala that was to be held this July. Due to the economic impact in our community as a result of the COVID-19 virus, The Hispanic Forum will not be able to host the yearly Gala for our 2020 high school graduating seniors. It pains us to have to rob our class of 2020 from yet another special moment but it has become an obvious necessity for the greater good of our community.
We realize that this is a devastating blow to our students, community, and organization. Together, our Golf Tournament and Scholarship Gala bring in more than 90% of the proceeds for scholarships on a yearly basis. The Gala is our signature fundraising event and it has allowed us to award close to half a million dollars to local students within the past five years. This is why The Hispanic Forum is determined in turning the COVID-19 pandemics’ negative impact into action to support our hard-working high school students. We have decided to establish a Go-Fund-Me account where all proceeds will be used to provide scholarships to our worthy students. Your support in the past has enabled us to bring hope to our students as they embark on the next chapter of their lives. Transitioning from high school to college is no easy journey and for our seniors this year it has, unfortunately, become a greater endeavor. However, we believe that with your support we can help our students rise above their disappointment and heartbreaking circumstances. We have the utmost confidence that your support will help us lessen the impact of coronavirus on our future local graduates.
We hope you’re all staying safe and staying healthy. Remember that we are all in this together. Thank you for your support during this challenging time for our students and our community as a whole.
