The face of food insecurity is the face of fear and anguish, and in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis, it is a changing face. More and more people who never needed food assistance before the crisis now regularly visiting food pantries so they do not have to choose between eating and keeping the water or electricity turned on.
Enter Epic-Cure. Epic-Cure is a 100% volunteer 501c3 non-profit organization. In its almost two year history, Epic-Cure has rescued and distributed more than 3 million pounds of food to the food insecure in St. Johns and Putnam counties - right here in our own backyard. Free for our customers - people just like you and me. The COVID crisis has seen Epic-Cure's monthly distributions of food rise from 70,000 pounds to just under 400,000 pound - monthly!
And Epic-Cure can do so much more. The main hurdle to collecting and distributing enough food to end this problem is refrigeration and transportation.
With YOUR help however, we can fix this problem. Together as a community, we are asking for your help in raising $75,000 to purchase a new refrigerated truck. This is the key to Epic-Cure meeting the immense need here in St. Johns County. This truck will enable us to safely store produce, dairy, and meat for our hungry neighbors. It will also enable us to go mobile, extending our distributions, our reach to more and more communities in our area..
