Hello Harpists and Harp Friends!
The Midwest Harp Festival (MHF) has been an important part of harp students’ education and development for the past 20 years. It provides an opportunity for students of all ages and levels to bond with outstanding teachers and to work and grow together. It is a valuable time for the students to hear a variety of performances, receive instruction, connect with others in the harp community, and be inspired.
As you know, the 2020 MHF has been cancelled due to COVID-19, but we would still like to provide two key parts of the Festival online.
The first performance of the Midwest Harp Festival each year is the Faculty Concert. We want to proceed with this year’s Faculty Concert and make it available online so you can watch from the comfort of your own home.
Another staple of the MHF is the Solo Competition for harpists of varying ages and levels. Competitions are a great way for students to push themselves and become better harpists! This year, we want to hold the MHF Solo Competition through video entries. Contestants would still receive written feedback from three judges, cash prizes would still be awarded, and the Winners Recital would take place via an online platform. (Go to https://www.midwestharpfestival.org/solo-competition for more information including registration fees, required pieces, and awards.)
We are asking for your help to make these events available to students, their families, and the public by donating to Barton Harp Initiative, the non-profit organization that hosts the Midwest Harp Festival. Please see the tiered goals below for your consideration and thank you for your time and any help in keeping the 21st Annual Midwest Harp Festival alive!

Tiered Goal: Raise $3,000 by May 9th
First Tier: $1,500 -- Reaching this goal will enable us to hire judges and award prizes for our 2020 Solo Competition, which will take place via video entries.
Second Tier: $2,300 -- Reaching this goal will enable us to hold the scheduled 2020 Solo Competition AND our annual Faculty Concert. Dr. Charles W. Lynch III, Elizabeth Richter, Faye Seeman, and Joanne King will put together an online recital (with potential appearances by Zach and Lou Hurst)!
Third Tier: $3,000 -- Reaching this goal will enable us to host our annual 2020 Solo Competition, hold our Faculty Concert, and make up lost revenue from this year’s cancellation. This will help set us up for the 2021 Midwest Harp Festival in Wheaton, IL!
