Running is my passion. To date, I have run 54 Marathons, encompassing 32 States, and several shorter distance races.
My run journey has taken me from my home town of Chicago to races around the world. Some of those races include five of the six Abbott World Marathon Majors - Chicago, New York, Berlin, Tokyo and London.
I have met people from all walks of life during ths journey. Some of those people include active and retired military personnel and the relatives of our fallen soldiers.
I remember talking to the wife of a fallen soldier while running the Marine Corps Marathon. She told me that her husband suffered from PTSD after returning home from serving in Iraq and committed suicide weeks later. They had two small children at the time. She said she had to be strong for her children, though it was the most painful experience of her life. I told her that one of my closest friends also suffered from PTSD and committed suicide shortly after he returned home from Operation Dessert Storm, leaving behind a young son.
Both of these events have affected my outlook on people in or that have served in the military and their families. For these reasons and because the location of my final World Marathon Major would be in Massachusetts, I decided to raise funds for the Massachusetts Fallen Heroes. I will run the Boston Marathon on Monday, April 20th, aka "Pariots' Day", with their Platoon.
After crossing the Finishline, I will become a Six Star Abbott World Marathon Major Finisher and join approximately 2,300 fellow Americans who have completed this epic journey.
The funds raised will go directly toward the Veteran's Edge Program to assist and empower our Veterans, educate their communities and support the Gold Star families that our fallen Veterans have left behind.
Freedom is not free. Our Veterans have paid the ultimate self sacrifice. Forever, we will be thankful and honor their memories and service to our country.
Please help with my fundraising efforts. Every dollar you donate will assist our Veterans and their families.
Also, please share my fundraising link to assist in spreading the word about the Massachusetts Fallen Heroes organization.
I humbly thank you in advance.
