Welcome to my 2020 Boston Marathon fundraising page and thank you for visiting! I’m so excited to launch my training and fundraising efforts for the Mass General Emergency Response Marathon Team, which was created in 2014 in recognition of the lifesaving response of hospital employees following the 2013 Boston Marathon® bombings. As many of you know, I am a long-time, employee of MGH (18 years) and passionate runner who previously ran the Boston Marathon as a charity runner in 2010 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in honor of my best friend’s cousin, and in 2011 for the MGH Pediatric Cancer Team in honor of a pediatric patient who is thriving today thanks to the care he received at MGH. Cumulatively, the donations of family, friends, friends of friends, and colleagues have helped me raise over $15,000 for those initiatives with great pride and I’m eager to take on this fundraising campaign with an even bigger goal.
What has motivated me to fundraise and run this year is synonymous to reasons I have decided to take on such an endeavor in the past – setting large goals such as this brings out the best in each one of us involved. For me, as I end the decade of my 30’s in 2020, it’s about staying healthy, channeling my energy into positive spaces, giving my children, nieces and nephews a taste of what it’s like to be part of something extraordinary, meeting new people, experiencing the feeling of achievement, and giving back to initiatives that make our world a safer place. For those who support me, it’s the sense of contributing to something good and a chance to contribute to a cause that many take for granted in the amazing city of Boston that we call home. Marathon funds specifically support the training and resources needed to develop a carefully integrated response that spans multiple departments throughout the hospital to provide lifesaving responses when seconds count. Preparing for any disaster takes thoughtful training and lots of practice, and donors like you are critical to the success of the programs we have in place today. It sincerely beings me great joy to see each and every donation come through to this cause and I can’t thank you all enough for your contribution.
Thank you for being with me every step of the way (literally)!
