The 3rd time is the charm!
I began working at Mass General, in the Cardiology Division, after graduating college in 2015. Since then I have been applying to run for the Mass General Marathon Team and this year (after adding a few more runs and fundraising experience under my belt) my dream came true!
Working as a pacemaker/ICD technician (and soon to be registered nurse) in both outpatient and inpatient settings, I frequently visit the Emergency Room. This has been such an inspiring place to build my career and also to further my education, which is why I want to help give back; not only to represent Mass General but also to support the community.
In 2014, the Mass General Emergency Response Marathon Team was created in recognition of the lifesaving response of hospital employees following the 2013 Boston Marathon® bombings. The ER Team has raised more than $2.3 million in six years, providing critical funding to the hospital’s emergency preparedness and disaster medicine efforts that benefit victims worldwide.
Marathon funds support the training and resources needed to develop a carefully integrated response that spans multiple departments throughout the hospital and ensures that Mass General is ready for the next disaster – be it man-made or natural.
