Running for a Cause
I like to run...and I've been given the chance to run in some really cool places around the world the last few years. I also like to create avenues for people to help others - I've got an immensely generous friend/family network who like me are looking for a way to help. Why not combine the power & passion of both?
In this time of uncertainty, when hundreds upon thousands of our neighbors have lost jobs and are fighting to keep food on their tables - there are good people standing in the gap. Will you help me support them - where literally EVERY DOLLAR counts?
On May 2nd, I'm going to run a Full (socially distant) Marathon - all 26.2 Miles...in my cul-de-sac. Yah, it's a little crazy - but hey, if that kind of crazy inspires you to tune in and give a few $$ to support a good cause - then it will all be worth it!
So much about our lives right now is not in our control - but if you're employed and able to put food on your table, you're a step ahead of a lot of people right now. Here's a narrative you CAN CONTROL - be the change in someone's life, make a difference, and help put food on their table.
* Give a dollar for every mile I run!
* Give a dollar for every turn I make!
* Give from your heart - every dollar helps!
For anyone who wants to watch or cheer virtually, we'll update this post closer to the event with a Facebook Live Feed link.
Churches like Columbia Baptist are standing in the gap during crises like this - providing food for families, no questions asked. They need our help, to keep providing - and now more than ever they specifically need financial donations.
A note from the Columbia Food Pantry:
In these trying times, we want to take every precaution to keep our volunteers and those we serve at the Spend Yourself® Food Pantry safe. In order to do so, we feel it best to no longer accept food donations.
If you'd like to help the pantry during this time, please consider a financial contribution. When you give a monetary gift to the Food Pantry, your donation goes much further, because we buy items in bulk at a cost well below retail. We can get $15-$20 worth of food with a donation of just $5!
