THE UPWS DIFFERENCE
If you know an Urban Prairie student, you know our education is different. Our students have a love and enthusiasm for learning. All Urban Prairie students are artists and musicians, with a love of stories and a remarkable ability to listen and attend. Our teachers consider teaching to be an artform, and they understand that the most effective teaching happens when a child feels loved and seen. We believe we offer exactly the education that children need during these stressful times.
Please consider making a gift to support our efforts. Scroll down for opprotunities to make gifts toward Excellence in Teaching, Diversity Equity Inclusion (DEI), and Practical Sustainability.
EXCELLENCE IN TEACHING - $25,000
Your unrestricted gift to the Urban Prairie Annual Fund supports your child’s education by supporting our investment in our teachers through mentoring, professional development, and formative assessment.
DIVERSITY, EQUITY, INCLUSION - $50,000
Urban Prairie strives to be a model among private schools nationwide for the diversity of our community and progressiveness of our pedagogy. Our curriculum continues to evolve, integrating diverse stories and perspectives to ensure that all the children in our community feel seen and loved as they learn. Your DEI investment:
- underwrites our faculty training, to provide our teachers with tools to further diversify their lesson plans and social-emotional student support.
- subsidizes our Variable Tuition Fund and supports our DEI recruiting efforts to make our school accessible to families from diverse communities.
PRACTICAL SUSTAINABILITY - $5,000
Last year we were one of three nominees in the state of Illinois for the U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon Schools program. What set us apart is our distinct curriculum that instills reverence, wonder, and stewardship.
UPWS is taking the next step toward our vision for sustainability: retrofitting our electrical systems to reduce energy consumption. This project enables us to monitor our energy usage, so that we can install the right-sized solar panels and begin our transition to sustainable power consumption.
