For many youth in Pasadena and Altadena, life is not as rosy as the area’s public image makes it seem. The poverty rate here is higher than the national average. In fact, most of the young people who participate in Youth of Promise come from families that earn less than $30,000 a year.
And while these young people are bright and amazing and full of promise, their families simply lack the resources they need to succeed in and out of the classroom. All young people deserve safe spaces where they thrive academically and personally.
That’s where you come in. You can help us break the cycle of poverty and violence. You can help us create a healthy, safe community where youth can reach their full potential. Even better, you can double your gift because Alan and Sheila Lamson will generously match the first $2,500 we receive dollar for dollar.
When you give to Youth of Promise, your gift will tangibly show young people that you care about them - that you believe in them. Our official goal for this fundraiser is $7,500. Can you help us exceed that goal?
Your support of our Youth of Promise program will empower local youth between the ages of 11 and 18 who are affected on a daily basis – and often traumatized – by poverty, drug use, family histories of incarceration, and community violence.
Throughout the year, youth participate in mentoring, tutoring, life skills, and field trips that are both fun and educational. These experiences help them grow and learn about the world. Every year, we provide as many enriching experiences for our youth as possible, free of charge to their families - but we can’t do it without you. You can help us send all 30 youth in our program on field trips this summer and school year.
We have so many fun outings and activities planned, including college tours, bowling nights, a trip to Bolsa Chica State Beach, laser tag, roller skating, Magic Mountain, an Escape Room challenge, monthly community service, enrollment of 10 girls in the Girls On The Run program, and more.
Donate now and double your gift dollar for dollar through Sheila and Alan Lamson's caring $2,500 challenge to make these experiences happen. Today, you can make a positive difference in a young person’s life. Any amount you give will make a difference.
