**7/29/19 Update: We've reached our goal, thanks to generous donors like you! All funds raised above our goal will go toward youth financial aid in our remaining 2019-20 programs!
Help make the YCC dream come true for 12 young Bay Area ultimate players striving to attend the 2019 Youth Club Championships in Blaine, Minnesota!
Bay Area Disc Association (BADA) administers YCC financial aid through its "Efe Fund", including 2 full scholarships to players who embody exceptional spirit of the game, leadership and compassion.
In June 2016, the ultimate frisbee community lost a vibrant and loved individual, Efejon Ustenci, a.k.a. "Efe" among his friends and YCC teammates. Just days after graduating from Berkeley High, Efe's heart failed while swimming in a lake and he passed away. He was a compassionate friend to many, an incredible ultimate athlete who always gave everything he had on every point, and an even greater human being who brought joy, humor and deep thought to everyone he was around. The Efe Fund honors his memory while serving a worthy cause for today's youth.
With your help, in 2019 we are awarding $6,384 in financial aid through the Efe Fund, including:
1) $2,200 (two awards of $1,100) for 1 boy and 1 girl who each embody exceptional spirit of the game, leadership and compassion. These awards will fully cover the costs of playing at the Youth Club Championships, including all program fees and travel expenses.
2) $4,184 in additional need-based financial aid to YCC players from low-income families.
If you have been able to pay for your child's YCC trip, please consider helping one of their low-income teammates get to Minnesota. By donating to the Efe Fund, you are helping to promote the sport that Efejon loved and carry on the values he upheld. Thank you!
In the summer of 2016, we raised $2,300 for the Efe Fund to fully cover the program fee and travel expenses for one boy and one girl. Since then, our financial aid has increased every year, enabling more and more access to YCC among families with financial hardship. The scholarship recipients have been very thankful and honored to carry out the scholarship's goal of promoting the sport Efe loved and carry on the values he upheld.
