About a year ago, I received the call that no one wants to hear.... you have BREAST CANCER. Suddenly, my world was flipped upside down. I felt like I had been hit with a tsunami with all the appointments, tests, surgery, and chemo. After all the cancer treatments were done, my journey to recovery and finding my “new norm” was just beginning.
Luckily at the beginning of this year, my oncologist introduced me to Triumph Fitness. This program helps recent cancer survivors gain back strength that was lost after everything that your body has gone through. I was led by a team of caring and wonderful instructors who were certified in cancer recovery. The amazing thing about Triumph is that it is available to any cancer survivor at NO COST! Triumph understands what cancer does to your body and helps you regain a part of your life back that was taken away.
Because of this program, I feel so blessed that I have regained the strength and stamina to be able to participate in their program’s summer fundraiser, Triumph to the Summit. This September, I’m going to hike to the summit of Mt. Tallac, one of the highest peaks in the Tahoe Basin, topping out at 9,735’! In training for this hike, I have the opportunity each weekend to hike in the Sierra Mountains. Hiking is new to me, but my teammates have been so supportive and offer great encouragement. I am able to lead an active life with my children and show them that there are so many more adventures for us to go on and that is thanks to Triumph. With your donation, you are helping other cancer survivors like me!
About Trimph's summer fundraiser:
Each summer, Triumph Cancer Foundation assembles a team of Triumph graduates, cancer survivors and supporters to participate in "Triumph to the Summit". Throughout the summer, our team trains each weekend, with the ultimate goal being to climb to the summit of Mt. Tallac in September.
On September 7th, our 2019 team will tackle Mt. Tallac, one of the highest peaks in the Tahoe Basin, topping out at 9,735'! Through the weeks leading up to this epic hike, our team forms bonds and grows strong together. We share information about Triumph Fitness with hikers we meet along the trail to raise awareness about this vital program available to adult cancer survivors in the Sacramento Metro region. As a team, we raise money to give other cancer survivors the opportunity to participate in Triumph Fitness to help them with their recovery process.
Our message to others is always that surviving cancer is a triumph that should be celebrated and that you can go onto to accomplish amazing goals in your life after cancer treatment! #TogetherWeTriumph #TriumphtotheSummit
