August 2014 my father was diagnosed with cancer and on May 4th 2018 after a bravely fought battle he passed away from this disease. With my family on the other side of the world I found triathlons as an avenue to deal with the stress and provide me with a purpose by using this endurance sport as a way to raise money for those in similar situations as my father.
On May 4th, 2019, the one year anniversary of my father’s passing, I will race Ironman 70.3 St. George. This race is known for being one of the hardest on the circuit, I will put my body through this in my father’s memory as part of Team Cancer Sucks to raise money for the Lazarex Cancer Foundation. Almost all of us have been impacted by this disease in some way whether or not we realize it. Let this be your opportunity to help make a difference by donating to the fundraising campaign for this race here; just like our Team statement, “IT IS BY ACTS AND NOT BY IDEAS THAT PEOPLE LIVE”
