We are very excited to be back in our 6th year as an official charity of the Skechers Performance Los Angeles Marathon. Thank you for visiting our page - we hope you'll support us and our continued efforts to serve the kids and families of Los Angeles! For over 70 years, the Los Angeles Boys & Girls Club has provided a safe place for kids. The Club offers a range of programs to attract youth and give them a safe place to learn and have fun. For a membership fee of just fifteen dollars per year, the Club provides after school services from 3-7pm, five days a week for youth ages 6-17. These services include transportation to the Club, tutoring, computers, arts, sports, leadership activities, and gang prevention. In the summer, the Club provides a full day of academic and recreational activities at a fraction of the cost of most summer camps. Founded in 1944, the Club is located in the heart of Lincoln Heights in northeast Los Angeles. The Club’s target communities are Lincoln Heights, Boyle Heights, Echo Park, China Town, Glassel Heights, El Sereno, Cypress Park, and Elysian Park. The Club provides a critical community center and much needed services in some of Los Angeles’ poorest and most underserved communities. Almost 40% of families in the area with children live below the poverty line, and almost 35% of households with children are single-parent, female-led homes. There are several gang injunctions in the neighborhoods the Club serves. In addition to the direct services it delivers, the Club is an important part of the community. It provides needed jobs, role models, and hope. On Sundays, the Club serves as a local church, on election day, community members vote at the Club, and on the weekends it serves as a community center for local events and family gatherings. The Club also has a weekly food bank, and each year at Thanksgiving and Christmas, the Club provides free holidays meals, food baskets, and gifts to hundreds of families. The Club has served generations of families in Los Angeles. We depend on generous donations and fundraising by people like you. Please support the important work of the Los Angeles Boys & Girls Club by donating and/or fundraising today. You can also learn more about the Club by visiting us at www.LABGC.org. Thank you!
