This will be my 2nd consecutive year running the Boston Marathon! Running it last year was such a great experience, however, the weather was just brutal. I also suffered a knee injury during training and between that and the weather I was not happy with my performance. I‘m coming back this year for redemption! I‘ve pledged to raise 5k for Goodwill in return for a bib to run Boston this year. Can you help me reach my goal?
Goodwill’s Boston Marathon team raises funds for the Peter Morrissey Youth Fund, which supports Goodwill’s Youth Programs, and is named in honor of Goodwill’s longstanding Board member, advocate, and friend, Peter A. Morrissey. Goodwill’s history in the community includes a long tradition of supporting local young people. From the original summer camp program, to afterschool programming and mentoring, to innovative programs helping youth with disabilities transition from school to work, Goodwill is experienced in providing jobs and educational opportunities to youth and helping them understand career pathways. Peter Morrissey was one of Goodwill’s greatest champions of the youth served. Goodwill will long remember and honor Peter as a fervent champion for Goodwill and Boston’s youth. Nearly 300 runners have laced up their sneakers in support of Running for Great Kids, raising more than $1 million in the process. In 2018, Running for Great Kids raised more than $97,000 for the Youth Initiative. Follow the team's Facebook page to stay up-to-date with our runners and team events.
