IRC's Girls Outdoors Achieving Leadership in Soccer (GOALS), is a summer after school program designed specifically for refugee girls as a way of supporting and empowering their development into the leaders of today. For the last 20 years, the IRC has run youth programming through a social and emotional learning standpoint- and GOALS is no exception. This 3-day a week, 6-week long summer program at the City Heights neighborhood park focuses on brain building, emotion regulation, positive social skills, conflict resolution, and perserverance as a way of offering a safe space to those who have faced severe adversity and stressful life events which have taken a toll on their developmental years. With the help of IRC's staff and volunteer coaches, girls are provided with the necessary gear and soccer fundamentals to build social and emotional competence. For many, the GOALS program will be their first time joining any type of structured team activity.
This is where your help comes into play. In order to provide these young refugee women with the best experience possible, we ask for donations to purchase state-of-the-art equipment, athletic attire such as uniforms and shoes, wholesome snacks, and excursions throughout San Diego to complement and enrich their experiences. Our goal is to reach $500 and we couldn't do it without your help. As always, the IRC thanks you for your contributions and continuous support. Through your donations, we are able to help those whose lives have been deeply affected by conflict and can continue to work towards successfully rebuilding their future.
