A lack of access to proper prosthetic care after amputation can be devastating. As part of my Orthotic and Prosthetic (O&P) education, I will be traveling both in the United States and Ecuador to work with O&P clinics and learn how to better support and serve the community of those needing O&P care. Currently, I am working on my masters in O&P with the goal of becoming a practitioner in the field.
My travels will allow me to expand my skills and knowledge to work in a multi-faceted field that explores and combines art, medicine, science, and people skills. This summer I will be traveling to Ecuador and Idaho to work under experienced practitioners. In addition, while in Ecuador, I will be working with the non-profit Range of Motion Project (ROMP) to fulfill their mission of returning mobility to those who have experienced an amputation.
My goal is fundraise 10,000$ for my travel and living expenses, as well as funds to go directly to supporting ROMP.
