Why The Herren Project?
My boyfriend Dean and I will be running 10 miles in Newport, Rhode Island on June 2, 2019 in memory of my cousin, Brendan Tapley. We are looking forward to running along the beautiful coast because the ocean was one of Brendan's favorite places to be.
Brendan was a star baseball player who graduated from Salve Regina University in 2011. He ran the Spartan Race at Fenway Park in November 2014 to benefit The Herren Project. Unfortunately, Brendan passed away at age 25 on June 15, 2015 after losing his own battle with addiction.
Through fundraising for THP, we hope to fight the stigma of addiction, spread awareness, and provide support for individuals who are on their road to recovery.
This one’s for you Bren. Watch over us until we get to the finish line! Forever in our hearts, BT20.
The Herren Project is a non-profit foundation established in 2011 by former NBA basketball player Chris Herren to provide recovery navigation, support, and wellness education to increase awareness and treatment of substance use disorder. Together we can make a difference, celebrating life and supporting one another. One person, one family at a time. To learn more, please visit: http://www.theherrenproject.org/
