SOAR Northwest, a licensed Idaho Outfitter, and Sierra Club's Military Outdoors, are working together again in 2019 to get 12 of our Military Veterans on a 6 day / 5 night Wilderness River Trip down the Main Salmon 'River of no Return' in Idaho. This program provides extended time in the Wilderness to disconnect from our world and to reconnect with each other and nature. While these week long trips are more costly than 1-2 days , their exponential impact on the spirit is astounding. Testimonial article from the 2017. Testimonials from 2018. "Time spent in nature not only promotes mental health, emotional resiliency, and leadership development prior to deployment, it provides invaluable know-how to help returning vets enjoy and engage with nature upon returning from deployments. Many veterans experience difficulty adjusting to civilian life after leaving the service. Time spent outdoors eases the transition and improves both mental health and social skills." (Stacy Bare) Please consider supporting the Military Outdoors program and helping to provide an amazing Wilderness River opportunity down the iconic Salmon River of Idaho. In 2018 and 2019 combined we have raised a total of $8,025. Thank you to all who contributed in the past. This may be a once in a lifetime opportunity for a Veteran, but it could forever change their life. All funds raised go directly to this program! Trip Dates: July 26-31, 2019 A $1,000.00 donation covers the full cost for a Veteran to participate in the trip. No contribution is too small. You can also support the program with donations of $10.00-$999.00
