We are eighth grade students and teachers from the John W. McCormack Middle School, a proud public school in the neighborhood of Dorchester in the city of Boston, MA. We have close to 130 students in the 8th grade, and every year we try to reward the most hardworking students and the ones that show the greatest citizenship and school pride by taking them on an end-of-year trip.
This year, for sixth year in a row, we are taking twenty-four eighth grade students on an overnight trip to New York City. For many of our students, this will be their first trip to NYC, and for some, the first trip they have made outside of Boston. We plan on visiting the most important sights (The Empire State Building, World Trade Center Memorial, Central Park), eating at a set diverse restaurants, and exploring many of New York's neighborhoods. We will be taking busses down from Boston, staying overnight in a hotel, and taking the NYC Subway system to get around.
For many of our students, the cost of this trip would be extremely prohibitive without financial support. While we ask students to cover their food expenses on the trip, we aim to cover transportation, housing, and sightseeing costs through fundraising. Your donation will make this special trip possible, and certainly provide one of life's lasting memories for our students. Thank you!
